Finding the Right Kind of Water Softener for Your Home

If you have decided it is time to get a water softener to put in your home then good for you. These little devices can really help to improve the quality of your water and your health, but they can also extend the life of your appliances and the look of your home. They are quite useful for sure.

The problem that many encounter is that they do not know which type of water filter to look for. Looking at places like you find that there are three types that could work for you.

The first of these is a time based water softener. In this kind of system, the water softener is equipped with special sensors and timers that perform the process of regenerating your water at various intervals that are determined based upon the needs of the individuals in the home. For example, in most homes nobody is really using water from 11 PM at night until 5 o’clock in the morning. What this means is that there is no real need for water treatment to be going on in your home. The machine running at this time is really just a waste. However, after 5 AM it is very likely that for at least the next three or four hours a great deal of water will be used in your home. This kind of a water softener system understands the needs of your home and the people who live in it and adjust accordingly to ensure that hard water is purified before it is used.

In the meter based water softener system, the mechanism that determines when the softener runs is based upon when the water is used. While this may sound a great deal like the timer-based system, it simply isn’t the case. What makes this different is that it is not measuring exactly the time that something is used, but is instead focused on the amount of water that is used at times. For example, if the meter recognizes that 30% of the overall water is used regularly at a certain time the water softener system adjust to increase the amount of water that is treated because there is a greater need for water at that time. At noon there may be only 4 or 5% water consumption, and so the meter system acts accordingly in the amount of water that is treated.

In the digitalized water system this blends the two prior systems into a more accurate dispensing of water. Because it is not only measuring the amount and time that water is used, you can be sure that the process of treating the water is done to provide the best possible purified water for your home. Many people love this system despite the fact that it costs a bit more to install within your home. Its advantages are just too good to pass up.
